While these SUVs have received rave reviews for their performance, the sound is a muffled one leaving the driver to wonder if they are really driving a BMW M-car. In order to solve this, Active Autowerke has created a full exhaust system for the X3M/X4M which comprises this rear axle-back valved exhaust, a single mid-pipe and a set of GESI catted downpipes. Together, this remake of the stock exhaust results in a F97/F98 with an amazing sound. You will feel like you are driving a true M-car again. At Active Autowerke, its not ONLY about making as much power as possible but to maximize the enjoyment of the drive. Every effort was made in addressing the overly quiet sound of the stock OEM exhaust while designing an exhaust worthy for an M car. We believe our rear exhaust combined with our mid-pipe and catted downpipes offers the best combination of sound and performance versus any other system on the market today. Available for both models, this axle-back exhaust gives your BMW the deep, throaty, growl a car of its caliber should have had from the factory! PLEASE NOTE - we do offer a version of this rear exhaust for those who only wish to replace their stock rear section (so keeping stock midpipes) but there may be an additional subsequent charge if you later move to an Active or other midpipe as the connecting pipes may have to be replaced. This system is the result of countless hours of R&D to obtain the perfect combination of performance and sound. Constructed of 100% 304 TIG welded stainless steel, we have created a modular exhaust system that will provide enough flow to support power levels way above the stock S55. The stock S55 Midpipe is a dual pipe system from each turbo that leads to the rear muffler. The resulting sound is far from pleasant, and without any real scavenging effect the turbo lag is fairly pronounced. By converting to a single 3.5 inch. pipe directly after the downpipes, our system promotes exhaust scavenging along with higher exhaust velocity to produce a quicker spool, more power, and a much smoother exhaust note. We believe that weve built the best performing exhaust on the market. With the reduced back pressure and large single-pipe design you can expect exhaust velocity to remain as high as possible throughout the entire system. Our design is also capable of handling much higher power levels than stock. Its over engineered to have no issues handling the increased exhaust volume from extensive modifications including turbo upgrades. All Active Autowerke exhausts are designed and manufactured for performance, and our S55 exhaust is no different.
